Butcher & Barlow’s ongoing commitment to growth

We are pleased to announce a number of promotions and a number of new team members this September.

Reflecting our ongoing dedication to fostering talent and enhancing our legal services, Butcher & Barlow has implemented a series of strategic expansions and internal promotions, demonstrating our commitment to growth and development.

New recruit

We are pleased to welcome Lewis Coffey to our Commercial Property Team at Sutton Weaver as a Solicitor. Lewis, a graduate of Manchester University, qualified as a Solicitor in June 2024. He brings a fresh perspective and strong foundational skills to the team, having been impressed by Butcher & Barlow’s professionalism and reputation during his previous interactions with the us when he was at his previous firm.

“I was attracted to Butcher & Barlow because of their outstanding reputation and the professionalism I observed when working on the other side of matters to them in the past. The fact there are so many long-serving staff members is always a good sign, it shows great career progression opportunities are available.” said Lewis Coffey.

Qualifications

We are also delighted to celebrate the qualification of George Flanders, Remi Kelly, and Tom Travis as Solicitors. These new qualifications represent not only the culmination of years of hard work and dedication but also the Firm’s ongoing commitment to developing the next generation of legal professionals.

Promotions

In addition to welcoming new talent, we are pleased to announce the promotions of Ella Holland and Hannah Sharrock from Paralegals to Trainees, and Ella Richardson to Apprentice Paralegal. These promotions reflect our ethos  to nurturing and recognising and promoting talent within the firm.

There has been a well deserved promotion to Associate for Thomas Sedley who undertook his training at Butcher & Barlow before qualifying in 2020.

Trainees

Joining the Firm as Trainee Solicitor are Annabel Jones, Emily Scott, and Lorrain Saquilayan, along with Harry Aldersley as an Apprentice Paralegal, and Abigail Mosley as a Paralegal, with a view to starting her training contract in September 2025. Their addition to the team further strengthens our capability to provide top-tier legal services to our clients.

Jonathan Aldersley said:

It’s always pleasing to see our team grow with the addition of new talent and the promotion of staff. At Butcher & Barlow, we believe in investing in our people and creating an environment where they can thrive. The expertise and enthusiasm that Lewis and our newly qualified solicitors bring will undoubtedly enhance our service offerings. We look forward to benefiting from all of their contributions as we continue to build on our reputation for excellence.

Congratulations to those who have received promotions, and a very warm welcome to those who have joined the Team. We wish you all much success as your progress with your legal careers.
