Spotlight on Butcher and Barlow’s Sutton Weaver Branch

Nestled between Runcorn and Frodsham, Sutton Weaver is a charming village in Cheshire with a rich history and unique local features. Known primarily for its iconic swing bridge, which carries the A56 over the River Weaver Navigation, the village has a long association with waterways and industry. Historically, the River Weaver played a pivotal role in the area’s development, as it was used to transport goods, fostering the growth of local industry and commerce. Originally a small farming community, Sutton Weaver evolved into a hub of development and continues to grow, while retaining its picturesque charm.

The village’s distinctive feature, the Sutton Weaver Swing Bridge, was built in the early 20th century and is a crucial part of local infrastructure, facilitating the crossing of the river while still allowing waterway traffic. The bridge is an enduring symbol of the village’s industrial heritage and connection to the broader Cheshire region. Over the years, the area has become a vibrant community with a blend of residential homes and local businesses.

Butcher & Barlow’s Sutton Weaver office is ideally located overlooking the canal, with views of Frodsham Hill, just minutes away from the motorway. This strategic location allows the office to serve a wide range of clients from both the Chester and Manchester areas, capitalising on the excellent transport links.

The office was opened in 2022 in response to growing demand from commercial clients in the Runcorn and Frodsham area.

Our Team at Sutton Weaver is led by Andrew Mackenzie, Partner and Commercial Law specialist, and a qualified Notary Public.  Working closely with Andy is Nick Ball, an experienced Associate specialising in commercial matters, who brings a wealth of knowledge to the Team. Together, Andrew and Nick have over 20 years of experience.

Alongside them, the Team includes Solicitors Emilia Forde and Lewis Coffey, who contribute their expertise to the Firm’s commercial matters. The office also boasts a strong support Team, with secretaries Elle Wilson and Katie Harper managing the behind-the-scenes work, ensuring everything runs smoothly for clients.

Butcher & Barlow’s Sutton Weaver office is not solely focused on Commercial Law. The Head of the Firm’s Residential Conveyancing Department, Lynsey Stuchfield, is based here as well, providing valuable expertise in property transactions. She is supported by Solicitor Casey Ashton, further strengthening the office’s capacity to deliver excellent service across a range of legal areas.

In addition, many of the staff at Sutton Weaver also work closely with the Team at Butcher & Barlow’s Runcorn office, which is just a short distance away. This collaboration ensures that clients benefit from a broad range of expertise, with resources shared across the two locations.
