The Cheshire Ploughing Match 2023
The occasional rain and gust of wind didn’t stop the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Team enjoying another fantastic day, at this year’s Cheshire Ploughing Match.
The Match, which tours the county and has a different venue each year, was held at Ashley Hall, Altrincham by kind permission of the Brooks family and Tatton Events.
Alongside the ploughing and hedge laying competitions, there were plenty of trade stands, each giving a great insight into Cheshire farming, both for the professional and anyone with an interest in agriculture and rural affairs.
Butcher & Barlow teamed up with Chartered Surveyors Meller Speakman and Accountancy firm Bennett Brooks to host our stand.
Visitors were lured to the stand once again by the smell of a Hog Roast, courtesy of Roach’s Roaster, who returned by popular demand.
Our competition ‘do you have a feel for farming’, which tested participants’ knowledge of common farming tools was a popular feature of the day. Those who entered will be curious to know that inside the four boxes were in fact: A – Tedder Tine, B – Ear Tagging Pliers, C – Milking Machine Cluster and D – A Mole Trap. Congratulations to the winner of a £100 voucher to spend at the Holies Farm Shop.
We had over 150 people pass through the stand throughout the day – thank you to everyone who came to see us. We look forward to seeing you again next year.
