I completed my training with Butcher & Barlow LLP, firstly as a Paralegal in 2015 and then as a Trainee Solicitor from 2016 to 2018. Prior to joining Butcher & Barlow, I read law at Aberystwyth University where I attained a First Class Honours degree. I then completed my Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, Chester and achieved a Distinction.
As part of my Training Contract, I worked across different offices within Butcher & Barlow in various departments including Civil Litigation, Residential and Commercial Property, Company Law, Private Client (including Wills and Probate) and Family Law. In the last seat of my Training Contract, I was based in the Firm’s Bramhall office assisting Nicola Wingfield within the Family Law team. This mostly encompassed public law and Legal Aid work, such as cases with involvement from the Local Authority.
Having known that I wanted to specialise in Family Law for some time, I qualified into this area in September 2018. I then spent some time initially working at another firm in Cheshire within their injunction department which involved daily advocacy and obtaining urgent Non-Molestation Orders, Occupation Orders and/or Prohibited Steps Orders. I also assisted clients with separation matters including divorce, matrimonial finances and child arrangements.
I have since spent some time in the South Manchester area undertaking work involving a variety of high value and often complex financial matters associated with divorce. This included cases with high value pensions, shares, investments and properties. I also continued to advise regarding divorce and child arrangements as well as cases concerning unmarried couples, particularly regarding property disputes.
I re-joined Butcher & Barlow in February 2022 as a Solicitor and I am delighted to have been promoted to an Associate Solicitor from May 2022. I represent clients in all aspects of Family Law on a privately paying basis and I am based at the Firm’s Northwich office.
As a member of Resolution, I believe that Family Law disputes are best dealt with in a constructive and supportive environment. I like to consider myself as an empath. I appreciate the need for sensitivity and compassion in the work that I do and the importance of developing trust.
My commitment to the Resolution code of conduct, and my expertise in Family Law, is further evidenced by my Accreditation as a Family Law Specialist with Resolution. This Specialist Accreditation scheme is designed to recognise members who demonstrate excellence in the practice of Family Law and their outstanding level of skills and expertise.
I am originally from the South of England, having moved to Cheshire just before starting College in 2009. Along the way, I have travelled quite extensively and lived in America for some time. Outside of work I love baking, exercising and travelling, and also spoiling my little cats, Wisgi and Pippin.
