I joined Butcher & Barlow in October 2023 as a Senior Property Development Solicitor based at the Firm’s Gadbrook Park and Bury Offices. Before joining the Firm I worked for Redrow Homes Limited Group Legal for 7 years, initially as Company Solicitor and lately as Legal Director. Prior to that role, I worked for Manchester firm Glaisyers Solicitors LLP where I was an Equity Partner for 14 years. Before that, I worked at Kent Jones and Done (now Freeths KJD) in Stoke-on-Trent for a duration of 22 years where I completed my training and was subsequently appointed as an Equity Partner.
My specialism is in Commercial Property, and particularly Residential Development work, including,
- Site acquisitions,
- Option Agreements,
- Promotion/joint venture agreements,
- Planning agreements,
- Infrastructure agreements,
- Plot sale site set-ups and,
- Complex site assemblies.
During my periods in Private Practice and more lately in-house at Redrow, I have also been exposed to agricultural property matters, mines and minerals work and acting for Affordable Housing Providers on acquisition work.
Some of my most memorable transactions have been:
- Acting for landed estates with regards to mineral extraction and disposal.
- Acting for the Crown Estate on their disposal of their rare Welsh gold reserves and,
- The acquisition and continued dealings on 4 large Garden Village Developments with plots on each in excess of 1000 units.
I attended Staffordshire University and obtained an honors degree in law and then attended the College of Law Chester where I sat what was the final year of the Law Society Finals before the course was changed to the Legal Practice Course. I qualified as a Solicitor in May 1993.
In my spare time, when I’m not with my family and Max the Rottweiler, I enjoy fishing, making plastic scale models and keeping physically and mentally fit. I practice martial arts and am proficient in Kung Fu, Karate and Taekwondo and general self-defence.
