I am a Solicitor specialising in all aspects of Family Law, including divorce and separation, financial remedies, and children’s cases. I provide careful and tailored advice, whether in regards to negotiation and resolution, or advocacy before the court.
I qualified in 1998 and joined Butcher & Barlow as a result of the merger with Salt Veeder. I am a Partner in the Firm and the head of our Private Family Law Department. I am based in the Bury office.
I hold a number of accreditations, namely:

I have acted in a number of high net worth divorces and important children cases, including in the High Court and Court of Appeal and more specifically I acted for one of the parties in the leading case on Special Guardianship namely R : S (Adoption or Special Guardianship Order) [2007] 1 FLR 819 and for one of the parties in the recently reported Court of Appeal case Louise Tickle v Father & Ors [2023] EWHC 2446 (Fam).
My entry in the Legal 500 directory of leading solicitors describes me as “patient” and as having “excellent knowledge and experience” and I work always to provide sensible and practical advice in a friendly and approachable way. I am also recognised as a Leading Lawyer by Wiselaw.
I have a degree in English Literature and in my spare time I like to spend time with my family and enjoy walking in the hills locally and in the Lakes when I can get there.
